Congratulations to Ben Rachow who was the Club’s Youth of the Year overall competition winner and Public Speaking competition winner. Ben will now progress to the Zone Judging which will be held at the Ashgrove Golf Club Saturday 11th March with an interview at 10.15am and the Public Speaking segment starts at 2.30pm. All Club members should attend, if possible, to support Ben as our representative.

“Peace Without Borders”
2005-06 Grand Prize Poster
“Celebrate Peace” is the theme of the 2006-07 Peace Poster Contest. Lions clubs can sponsor the program in their community for children in local schools or organized, sponsored youth groups. Students, ages 11, 12 or 13 on November 15, 2006,are eligible to participate. Through the contest, students are encouraged to visually depict their interpretation of the contest’s theme. Kits are now available for entry to this years competition.

The Lions Youth of the Year Quest, sponsored by the National Australia Bank is one of the largest Lions Youth programmes at Multiple District level. It has been a MD project since 1966 and each year, more than three thousand students take part in the quest.
The Quest is designed to encourage student interest in leadership and the qualities required to take an active and constructive role in the community. It does this by selecting an outstanding young person from candidates throughout Australia to travel overseas and act as an ambassador for Lions Clubs International Multiple District 201. The international travel is conducted under the auspices of Lions Clubs International. (more…)

The next Club meeting with be a Dinner Meeting to be held at the Gaythorne RSL Club, at 6.30pm for 7.00pm start. I look forward to seeing all Club members at the meeting. Any Lion visiting the area interested in attending, feel free to email me for further details.

Our Board meeting was held on 8 February at our den at 668 Samford Road, Mitchelton, with 14 members in attendence. Minutes will be available at the next Dinner Meeting.
